What is REP Basketball

The DCBA Rep program is designed for players ages 8 to 18 who want to play on a competitive basketball team. Our players on the Rep teams compete against other clubs from Ontario and participate within the Ontario Basketball Association's sanctioned tournaments, leagues and games across the GTA. Players are selected through open tryouts in October.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER THE REP PROGRAM?

WHAT DOES IT COST TO PLAY ON THE REP TEAM?

The fees for the Rep season are between $1200 and $1500. The price depends on what program you were successful making . Fees can change and be lower depending upon sponsorship, fund raising and number of tournaments the team will attended. The fees will be determined once the team is selected.


HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE SELECTED PER TEAM & IS PLAYING TIME EQUAL?

Each team typically takes 12 players per roster. Basketball Ontario has specific rules for young players from grade 3-6 where equal playing time is mandatory. Grade 7 and up, playing time is solely decided by the coach. There are non - OBA leagues that some teams enter and they do not mandate equal playing time for any age group.


HOW AND WHEN WILL I KNOW IF MY SON/DAUGHTER HAS MADE THE TEAM?

Players/Parents will be notified by the coach or club administrator regarding next steps for registration no later than a week after tryouts have concluded. Please be patient as the coach will have a number of players to notify.


WHAT IS THE TYPICAL SCHEDULE?

Each team practices 2-3 times per week for 2 hours. Practices are usually in the Pickering/Ajax/Whitby area. High School teams don't start their season until the high school season is over so they typically train once per week. Teams will usually compete in tournaments on selected weekends 3 - 5 times throughout the season. Some teams may decide to travel to United States and/or Montreal for tournaments

HOW MUCH IS THE TRYOUT FEE AND IS IT A ONE TIME FEE?

$20 one time fee (Pre-registration only)

$25 one time fee at the venue.
